Despite of all challenges of 2021 related to pandemic and economic issues; Risk Insights has experienced another year of growth thanks to your continued support.
Risk Insights’ AI-powered ESG GPS rating tool was successfully launched in two major African markets – Nigeria and Kenya. Risk Insights was recognized for two consecutive years by the World Economic Forum (WEF) for Agile Governance in 2020 and for Excellence in Sustainability in 2021. Along other Risk Management champions in South Africa like Johannesburg Stock Exchange, Vodacom, Master Drilling, Eskom, ABMI, Risk Insights was awarded by the Institute of Risk Management of South Africa for its achievements in building first Africa AI-powered ESG rating tool – well known across South Africa and far beyond its borders ESG GPS. Risk Insights, with its partners Imperial and Instinctif Partners launched the World Economic Forum New Champions South Africa Chapter – first ever World Economic New Champions country Chapter.

Sustainability projects alongside the World Economic Forum:
We continue to develop strategic relationships with our partners, including WEF. In 2021 Risk Insights, together with its strategic partners, launched first in the world country Chapter of the World Economic Forum New Champions in South Africa. The initiative forms part of The WEF’s New Champions Community, which mobilizes and capacitates corporate leaders to improve the state of the world. WEF New Champions Chapter South Africa will support the Step Up 2A Start Up of Primestars to create more sustainable job opportunities and support entrepreneurs in South Africa, Trails SA & Imperial to create better connected trail experience for communities in the Western Cape and to build more sustainable jobs and Unjani Clinics to create a network of medical facilities to address the gap in healthcare access for underprivileged communities. We trust to undergo more projects with our partners and create a more sustainable future for South Africa.
COLLABORATION BETWEEN PwC AND RISK INSIGHTS:
Risk Insights and PwC announced collaboration between parties. Under the deal signed between companies, PwC will use Risk Insights’ ESG GPS tool to access the underlying ESG GPS ratings reports and leverage rich ESG GPS database to advise companies on how to improve their ESG strategies, transformations, performances, and reporting.
COLLABORATION BETWEEN HENLEY BUSINESS SCHOOL AND RISK INSIGHTS:
Risk Insights and Henley Business School are pleased to announce a co-operation in a joint ESG research project towards providing an in-depth analysis of the current state of affairs in the implementation and adoption of ESG (Environmental, Social and Governance) principals within listed companies across the African continent. Risk Insights, as the creator of the AI-powered ESG GPS model, will provide expert knowledge on ESG in Africa and contribute quantitative data analysis capability using its ESG GPS rich database. Henley Business School, as leading educational institution in Africa and globally, will use its academic excellence in research to facilitate the project while both parties aim to promote and disseminate their joint research findings. This will be an initiative that examines the current level of ESG adoption, integration, and practices within various materiality factors across companies in Africa.
Recognized in an Honourable Mention for Sustainability by the World Economic Forum:
In 2021, Risk Insights was recognized in an Honourable Mention for Excellence in Sustainability by WEF. “South Africa-based Risk Insights is the first company in Africa to create an AI-driven tool for rating the Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) performance of companies listed on the continent’s major stock exchanges. Using machine learning, the tool assesses how well a company’s strategies are aligned to its ESG aims.” This marks as the second consecutive year that Risk Insights was recognized by WEF, following Risk Insights becoming the Winner of Excellence in Agile Business Governance in 2020. We are excited about more prospects alongside WEF in creating a more sustainable future for all.

The Institute of Risk Management South Africa - IRMSA is the leading Professional Body for Risk Management in South Africa and on African continent. The Institute represents individuals and companies committed to the enhancement of the Risk Management discipline. With this, along other Risk Management champions in South Africa like Johannesburg Stock Exchange, Vodacom, Master Drilling, Eskom, ABMI Risk Insights is humbled to receive a prestigious award for Professional Services for recognizing Risk Insights for our small contribution to risk management practices and building first AI-powered ESG GPS rating tool built in Africa for Africans.
Risk Insights launched ESG GPS in two major African markets:
In 2021, Risk Insights successfully launched its ESG rating tool - ESG GPS, into two more major African markets: Nigeria and Kenya.

Earth is Our Planet! More One Planet Launches in 2021:
Risk Insights continued to pioneer ESG events in South Africa for Board members and executives with its famous One Planet events. Addressing two key markets, the Financial Sector, and the Board & C-Suite members. Risk Insights was able to drive the ESG narrative to invited guests and are pleased with the input from all parties.

Risk Insights participated virtually in several conferences in 2021 as a sustainability & ESG player for Africa. To name a few; the SingularityU South African Summit 2021, the 2nd Annual Africa Pensions & Retirement Summit 2021 by Africa Insights, Enwealth’s 3rd Global Investment Opportunities Conference in Kenya. Imparting knowledge on ESG in South Africa, across the African continent and within international conferences has been an essential component towards driving the sustainability narrative. Risk Insights ensures that participation will only increase and will be even more engaging in 2022!
Window on the Week Highlights:
Risk Insights continues to support ESG drive with our Window on the Week segments to discuss the ESG framework in a multitude of business areas, industry sectors and globally. By adapting to the digital space and interacting with industry players helps to spread the message of sustainability as well as gaining the insights from qualified professionals.

Rebuilding South Africa through giving back:
Risk Insights walks the talk, especially when it comes at a time of crisis like we all have experienced in South Africa during lockdowns, and the disruption in supply chains of basics in some parts of the country in the past year. In collaboration with Afrika Tikkun, we gave back to communities by providing free, sustainably produced, soups by leading EU organic food producer, Auga food products, from the Kamdali portfolio. We feel fortunate enough to give back to communities who have experienced hardship during this period and will continue to walk the talk in 2022.
Risk Insights partners as supporters of the Malala Fund:
Risk Insights is proud to become a partner and support the Malala Fund in 2021. With more than 130 million girls out of school today, the Malala Fund are breaking down barriers that hold girls back. Malala Fund believes girls are the best investment in peace, prosperity, and our shared future, and we at Risk Insights are pleased to support their efforts in allowing more girls to receive an education. We also had the privilege of having the CEO of Malala Fund, Suzanne Ehlers, feature as a special guest and speaker in two of our events in 2021. Risk Insights will continue to strengthen our involvement with Malala Fund in 2022 and beyond.
